OICO
(2026)
An integrated smart ecosystem transforming passive TV screens into adaptive social companions for solo-dwellers in compact homes. Through ambient scenes, remote co-watching, and dedicated hardware touchpoints —including a TV stick, smart remote, and companion app— Oico redefines small-space living.
Confined to small apartments, remote workers struggle to detach from work and face persistent isolation while their home’s largest display, the TV, sits completely passive.
To uncover the limitations of current smart TVs, preliminary research combined expert review, habit surveys, user testing, and semi-structured interviews. The insights revealed solo-dwellers seek spatial flexibility between daily routines and desire natural co-presence, while demanding control over privacy and visibility.
Our solution: Oico. An integrated IoT ecosystem enabling low-friction social co-presence while dynamically transforming the living space. Through customizable, automatable ambient "scenes" like Work or Cinema, Oico flexes to support solo-dwellers across their shifting daily routines.
The home dashboard dynamically adapts its color palette, background, and widget configuration to match the active Scene—shifting seamlessly from productivity-focused tools during working hours to immersive entertainment modes by evening.
Ambient features automate the living space through customizable Scenes (e.g., Work, Cinema, Relax). When configuring a scene, users select connected smart devices, define their behaviors, and assign dedicated TV dashboard widgets to match their activity.
Social features foster effortless co-presence through synchronized co-watching and hands-free big-screen video calls, allowing remote friends to share moments and feel connected without the friction of holding a device.
To connect with any TV setup, Oico includes a plug-and-play TV stick, a trackpad-equipped remote with shortcuts, and a webcam featuring a physical tilt-back privacy hinge. The ecosystem expands with additional smart accessories via the online store.
To eliminate the friction of on-screen TV typing, a dedicated companion app streamlines onboarding, contact management, and co-watching invitations, while serving as a store to purchase additional Oico devices.
